HRH Princess Lalla Salma Lays Foundation Stone of Oujda Oncology Regional Center

HRH Princess Lalla Salma, chairwoman of the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment, laid, on Thursday in Oujda, the foundation stone of the Oncology Regional Center.
The center will provide specialized medical care for cancer patients in the eastern region and will be set up at the Mohammed VI university hospital center of Oujda. It will receive over 2,000 new cases yearly.
The facility, which meets international standards, will include notably a radiotherapy department, and wards for medical oncology, paediatric oncology and adult haematology with a capacity of 50 beds.
It will also comprise a surgical department with 4 operating rooms, a 10-bed intensive care unit, a 4-bed transplant unit, a day hospital for adults and children, an outpatient unit made up of 10 consultation rooms and 2 treatment rooms, as well as a radiology department with CT and MRI.
The new center will be constructed over a surface area of 13,000 m3 within 30 months. The center's construction will amount to 130 million dirhams, while its equipment will cost 70 mln MAD.
The building of this center, which falls under the national plan for cancer prevention and control, will be carried out in partnership between the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment, the health ministry, the wilaya of the eastern region, the agency of economic and social development for eastern provinces and the regional council for the eastern region.
