  • Rabat, 30-01-2013 - The dedication on Wednesday by HM King Mohammed VI, who was accompanied by HRH Princess Lalla Salma- chairwoman of « Lalla Salma Association for the struggle against cancer », of the Mohammed VI cancer treatment center at the Ibn Rochd University hospital in Casablanca showcases the interest granted by the sovereign to improving hospitalization conditions of cancer patients and His permanent will to alleviate their sufferings.

    This new structure comprises a radiotherapy unit, a medical oncology unit, a nuclear medicine unit and a pole for the early diagnosis and treatment of breast and gynaecologic tract cancers.

    Set as a genuine activity pole of the Mohammed VI cancer treatment center, the pole for the early diagnosis and treatment of breast and gynaecologic tract cancers required an investment of 60 million DH. Its main missions are to give patients a specialized treatment of breast and gynaecologic cancers, train practitioners and develop scientific research in the field.

    Destined to expand the network of structures specialized in cancer treatment in Morocco, it is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and tools to serve the inhabitants of Casablanca and the neighboring regions.

    The opening of this service is part of a partnership convention concluded by Lalla Salma association for the struggle against cancer, the health ministry, the regional council of the great Casablanca, the prefectoral council, the city council, the National initiative for human development and the Ibn Rochd university hospital of Casablanca.

    It is also a strategic axis of the 2010-2019 national plan for the prevention and control of Cancer.

    Cancers of the breast and gynaecologic tract account for 60 pc of all cancers in Morocco and for 75.2 of cancers affecting women that were treated in the Ibn Rochd hospital in 2011.
